SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – A pair of University of Hawai'i men's golfers shot 68 during the final day of the 72
ndWestern Intercollegiate Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The day started with the completion of Round 2 with junior
Cameron Kaneko shooting a 2-under 68. The third and final round began shortly thereafter with senior
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon also firing a 68 en route to a team-best 221 total and tie for 66
thplace. The Thailand native carded his best finish in three trips to the Western.
One shot back was freshman
Justin Arcano, who posted a final round 74, that included a stretch of 4-under par over his final six holes. Arcano tied for 70
that 222 in his first visit to Pasatiempo. Kaneko shot a final round 78 for a 225 total and tie for 78
th.
As a team, UH finished in 15
thplace with a 1,128 total, its best score since 2014. 20
th-ranked North Carolina captured the team title with a 1,036 total, 10 strokes better than ninth-ranked California. No. 21 USC and No. 50 San Diego State finished in a tie for third at 1,052.
Individually, Norman Xiong of Oregon won a three-way playoff with a birdie on the third extra hole over Cal's Collin Morikawa. Arizona's George Cunningham also tied at 10-under 200, but was eliminated on the first playoff hole.

Hawai'i will next compete in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, April 14-15 in Tempe, Ariz., its final tune-up before the Big West Championship, April 29-May 1 in Industry, Calif.
