SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team fired a first round 387 and was on the course in the second round when darkness halted play at the 72
ndWestern Intercollegiate Saturday at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The Rainbow Warriors completed 13 holes of Round 2, which will continue Sunday morning prior to the start of the third and final round.
Junior
Cameron Kaneko is 5-under through 14 holes of Round 2 and 4-over for the tournament. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native has five birdies and no bogeys in his second round and currently tied for 52
ndplace.
Freshman
Justin Arcano is 5-over which includes a first round 2-over 72. His second round got off to a rough start with a 9 on the par-5, No. 13, his second hole, but he rebounded with two birdies and is 3-over through 13 holes. Senior
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon is 5-over in his second round and 10-over for the tournament.
Also competing for the Warriors are junior
Sam Schwartz (+13), sophomore
Nick Nelson (+13), and freshman
Cole Yoshida (+20).
No. 20 North Carolina holds a three stroke lead over 50
th-ranked San Diego State when play was suspended. The Tar Heels and Aztecs are shooting 9-under and 11-under, respectively in their second rounds. Individually, Arizona's George Cunningham and Texas' Scottie Scheffler are tied at 7-under.
Play resumes on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. PT with the final round to follow immediately after.
