Women's Tennis Falls To No. 23 Wichita State

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (4-3, 1-1 Big West) fought hard, but fell to No. 23 Wichita State on Wednesday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Shockers edged out the 'Bows to capture the doubles point. UH's No. 2 duo of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma defeated Wichita State's Ting-Ya Hsu and Giulia Guidetti by a break, 6-4. UH's No. 2 duo of Klara Pribylova and Nikola Dolakova gave everything they had, but WSU's Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco won the point for the Shockers with a 7-6 (6) victory.

In singles, only Resma was able to seal a win, knocking off Alexandra Lazarova in straight sets on the No. 6 court, 6-4, 6-4. But No. 1 Melounova won her first set before falling to 84th ranked-Fatima Bizhukova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 5 court, UH's Michelle Pits also won her first set before dropping her match to Gabriela Porubin, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Hawai'i will remain at home as they take on UC Irvine (6-5, 0-0 BWC) this Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
