HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team was clicking on all cylinders in a sweep of UC San Diego Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center. For the second straight night, UH won in straight sets, 25-9, 25-10, 25-14.

The Rainbow Warriors (15-6, 3-3 BWC) hit for a season-high .558 with only six errors in 77 attempts with outside hitter Brett Rosenmeier (14-0-19) and middle blocker Dalton Solbrig (8-0-9) combining for 22 kills without an error in 28 attempts. In fact, Solbrig did not commit an error in the series with 15 kills, hitting .833.

Opposite Rado Parapunov added 12 kills and a career-high seven digs while outside hitter Stijn van Tilburg had nine kills, five blocks, and two blocks. As a team, the Warriors tallied 8.5 blocks and three aces.

Tanner Syftestad, the nation's leader in kills, was held to six kills to lead the Tritons (9-14, 0-6).

UH scored the first four points of Set 1 and extended its lead to 8-2 forcing an early UCSD timeout. The lead was 17-4 after a 6-0 run that included a Parapunov ace and two blocks and a kill by Patrick Gasman. Parapunov finished with five kills in the set as the Warriors hit .591 and limited the Tritons to -.040 hitting.

Hawai'i broke open Set 2 with a 6-0 run for a 14-6 lead. Moments later a van Tilburg solo block put UH on top 18-7 and the junior finished off the set with an ace. The Warriors did not commit an error in 23 attempts (.737) in the frame and held UCSD to .000 hitting.

The Tritons contained the Warriors for the first part of Set 3 as UH's lead was only 15-12 at the media timeout. But three more Rosenmeier kills gave the Warriors a 19-14 lead and UH scored the final eight points to close out the match.

The Warriors will next travel to UC Santa Barbara for a two-match Big West series Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
