SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team concluded its three-match California roadtrip by holding off UC Santa Barbara in a 4-2 victory on Friday afternoon. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 8-6 overall ant 4-2 in the Big West while the Gauchos fell to 6-12 overall and 2-1 in conference at the Rob Tennis Courts in Santa Barbara, Calif.
 
Hawai'i captured the doubles point to start the match. UCSB won the No. 1 doubles match, but UH's No. 2 duo of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma evened things up with a 6-2 win over Amit Lev Ari and Amanda Atanasson. UH's No. 3 pair of Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova saved match point and came back to clinch the doubles point by edging out Stephanie Yamada and Lise Sentenac in a tight match decided by a tiebreaker as UH  won, 7-6 (5).
 
In singles, Melounova nearly blanked UC Santa Barbara's Palina Dubavets at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1 to give UH a 2-0 lead. But UCSB's Natalie Da Silveira and Atanasson won the next two matches to tie things up at 2-2 on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. UH's Klara Pribylova showed her moxie and fought back after being a set down to win the second set in a tiebreaker. In the third set, Pribylova was down, 5-2 and fought off five match points to defeat Lev Ari by a break in the third, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5. Hawai'i's No. 6 Resma battled back after a tough first set to clinch the match by winning her three-set match over Sentenac, 6-7 (5), 6-4,6-2.
 
The Rainbow Wahine only have two matches left in the regular season. Next up for the 'Bows is their Senior Day match at the UH Tennis Complex on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. against UC Riverside. UH will end the regular season at CSUN on Sunday, April 22.
