HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i track and field squad opened up action on Friday with the Rainbow Relays against Nevada and San Jose State at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.
Sophomore
Lily Lowe reached a new Outdoor personal best in the high jump to win the event with a mark of 5-10.00 (1.78m), rising from sixth to tie for fifth with Annett Wichmann (2009) on the all-time UH performances list.
Also an event winner for the Rainbow Wahine, sophomore
Haleigh Sudbeck reached a new personal best in the hammer throw, surpassing Meghan Weaver (2006) and moving up to fourth in the UH performances list with a toss of 185-2 (56.45m), making a 15 foot, 1 inch improvement. Sophomores
Kahili Novikoff (156-03/47.64m) and
Malissa Humanic (148-7/45.30m) followed in second and third. Novikoff boosted her career best by 6 foot, 1 inch.
Sophomore
Alexis Brenzil came away on top of the javelin throw at 152-7 (46.50m), while junior
Karen Bulger was fourth at 146-0 (44.50m)
The Rainbow Wahine will return to action on Saturday morning at the Ching Complex, taking on nine running events and four field events to close out the Rainbow Relays. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. HT, with the final event setting off at 11:45 a.m. HT.
