HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (6-4, 2-2 Big West) was edged out by Cal State Fullerton, 4-3 in a Big West Conference match that came to the final singles match of the day. Fullerton improved to 14-2 overall and remained undefeated in the Big West as they won their eighth-straight match.
 
The match started well for the Rainbow Wahine, as they captured the doubles point, with Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma blanking Genevieve Zeidan and Masako Makiba, 6-0 on the No. 2 Court. UH's No. 3 duo of Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova then defeated Danielle Pham and Caisey Lee, 6-2.
 
But in singles, the Titans battled back to win four of the six matches for the victory. Resma defeated Makiba at No. 6 in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 and Marina Hruba then defeated Karl Portalatin at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2. But Cal State Fullerton then reeled off wins on the No. 2, 4 and 1 courts to tie things up at 3-3. The match hinged on the results of the No. 5 match between UH's Michelle Pits and CSF's Caisey Lee Emery. Pits won the first set, but lost the next two to sway the match in the Titans favor.
 
The Rainbow Wahine conclude their seven-match homestand with Illinois (12-2, 3-1 Big Ten) on Wednesday, March 21 at 3:30 pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
