PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded consecutive rounds of 297 on the first day of the Grand Canyon University Invitational Friday at the GCU Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors are currently in 12
th place with a 594 total heading into Saturday's third and final round. Missouri, the highest ranked team in the field at No. 40, holds an eight-stroke lead over Pacific and UC Riverside at 557. The Highlanders posted the low round of the day at 278 in Round 2.
Three golfers are tied for the individual lead at 4-under 138 – Long Beach State's Hunter Reed, UOP's Casey Scott, and UCR's Tyler Moore. UH sophomore
Nick Nelson is tied for 30
th with round of 71 and 74 for 3-over 145 total.
Freshman
Justin Arcano posted rounds of 74 and 73 for a 147 total and is tied for 49
th. Junior
Bryden Salvador is tied for 65
th at 150 (76-74) while sophomore
Trevor Hirata and junior
Cameron Kaneko are tied for 75
th at 154.
The tournament concludes on Saturday.
