KANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team concluded the 33
rd Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in eighth place after carding a final round 303 Tuesday at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine posted their best round of the tournament to finish at 936. Sixth-ranked Texas captured its first Donnis Thompson Invitational title with a three-round score of 883. No. 17 Oklahoma State was runner-up at 907 followed by No. 24 Houston (913) and defending champion No. 31 Texas A&M (923).
Texas' Kaitlyn Papp captured medalist honors at 3-under 213 after a final round 68, the low round of the tournament. Defending champion Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M was four strokes back at 1-over 217. Szeryk was looking to become the tournament's sixth repeat champion.
Junior
Kaci Masuda posted UH's low score of the day at 1-under 71 and finished in a tie for 24
th at 231. The Pearl City, O'ahu native carded two birdies and one bogey on her round, which she finished 2-under over her last 13 holes.
Freshman
Sahara Washington was UH's top finisher at 12-over 228 for the tournament after a final round 75 to finish in a tie for 12
th place. Fellow freshmen
Emma Lower and
Tyra Tonkham shot 81 and 77, respectively for a 239 total and tie for 39
th place.
Sophomore
Megan Ratcliffe fired a final round 80 for a 248 total and tie for 56
th. Senior
Lauren Kirkwood competed as an individual and tied for 64
th at 256 after a 78 on Tuesday.
The Rainbow Wahine will next host the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, March 26-28 at the Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui.
