HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (5-3, 2-1 Big West) continues its seven match homestand with a pair of dual matches this week. The Rainbow Wahine will take on former Big West rival, Pacific (2-4, 0-0 West Coast) on Tuesday, March 13 at 4:00 pm and then the 'Bows battle Cal State Fullerton (12-2, 2-0) Big West) on Saturday, March 17 at 11:00 am. Both matches are to be played at the UH Tennis Complex.
The 'Bows split their matches last week, falling to No. 23 Wichita State before bouncing back to sweep UC Irvine in a conference match, 7-0 later in the week. Only No. 6
Roxanne Resma was able to win all of her matches last week. She improved her dual match record to 4-2 this year and is now a perfect 6-0 in doubles dual matches with partner
Petra Melounova. Melounova has won six of her last seven singles matches, all played on the No. 1 court. She is now 7-2 overall and 5-2 in dual matches.
Michelle Pits continues to lead UH though with a 9-5 overall singles record. In dual matches she is tied with Melounova at 5-2 for the team lead. Pits battled back after dropping the first set to Flora Amiri, before roaring back to captrure the second set and the third set tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0, 10-6.
UH's No. 1 duo of
Nikola Dolakova and
Klara Pribylova lead the 'Bows with an overall doubles record of 9-6. The pair have notched wins in three of their last four matches and their lone loss was to No. 23 Wichita State's Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco. Dolakova and Prybylova was narrowly edged out in a very close match 7-6 (6) that swayed the doubles point to the Shockers.
