RIVERSIDE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i freshman
Sahara Washington is one stroke off the lead after the first two rounds of the Battle at the Rock women's golf tournament, Monday at the Oak Quarry Golf Club.
Washington, a freshman from Universal City, Texas, carded rounds of 71 and 70 for a 3-under 141 total. She stands in a three-way tie for second behind UC Riverside's Hana Furuichi, who shot a second round 68 for a 4-under 140 total.
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine are in second place, six strokes behind Big West Conference rival UC Davis. UH shot 290 and 295 for a 585 total while UCD enters Tuesday's third and final round at 579. UCR is third at 587 in the 14-team field.
Junior
Kaci Masuda is in a four-way tie for 18
th at 4-over 148. The Pearl City, O'ahu native posted nine birdies over her two rounds of 75 and 73. Freshman
Emma Lower is also tied for 18
th with consecutive rounds of 74.
After opening with an even par 72, freshman
Tyra Tonkham shot a second round 78 and is tied for 28
th at 6-over 150. Sophomore
Megan Ratcliffe is 8-over 152 with rounds of 73 and 79 and is tied for 35
th.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:56 a.m. PT.
