SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team finished the 2018 season with a solid performance, placing 35th, at the NCAA West Regional Friday morning at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
"Very pleased with the efforts in Sacramento this morning, each runner did all that she could," said head coach
Tim Boyce. "Haley (Beaumont) was determined and ran great today."
Leading the way, senior
Haley Beaumont saved the best for last, registering a season best performance while finishing first for UH and 205th overall (22:59.6).
Sophomore
Sienna Santiago followed suit, coming down the chute in a time of 23:17.4, finishing second for UH and 216th overall.
Senior
Alison Bowman finished in UH's top three for the second time this season, while nearly breaking her 6k PR, finishing in 23:57.1 (230th overall).
Senior
Danielle Girard finished in the fourth spot for UH and 235th overall (24:02.1)
Competing in her first NCAA West Regional race, freshman
Hope Stewart was four seconds shy of tying her 6k PR, coming across the finish line in 24:24.8.
Also competing for Hawai'i, senior
Giovanna Casazza, who finished 245
thoverall (24:44.8).
The Rainbow Wahine logged 1097 points with an average time of 23:45.
"Our four seniors who ran today along with Tristan (Setzer) have meant so much to our growing program," said Boyce.
Hawai'i finishes the 2018 cross country campaign and will now turn their attention to the indoor track and field season starting in January.
