Ursua Among 11 Semifinalists For Biletnikoff Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Hawai'i junior slot receiver John Ursua is one of 11 semifinalists for the 2018 Biletnikoff Award Preseason as announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. The award annually recognizes the nation's outstanding receiver regardless of position.
 
Ursua is the first UH receiver selected as a semifinalist since Greg Salas in the 2010 and the fourth overall along with Chad Owens (2004) and Ashley Lelie (2001). 
 
The native of Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i ranks in the nation's Top 10 in six categories.
 
  • No. 1 in receiving touchdowns (15)
  • No. 4 in receiving yards (1,161) and total touchdowns (16)
  • No. 6 in receiving yards per game (105.5)
  • No. 7 in total points scored (96)
  • No. 9 in receptions per game (7.2)
 
Ursua has eclipsed the 100-yard mark six times this season and has scored multiple touchdowns in five games, including three each against Army and San Jose State. His 15 touchdowns is tied for the third highest single-season total in school history.
 
Earlier this season, Ursua became the 13th Rainbow Warrior to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season and was selected to the Associated Press Midseason All-America second team.

Three finalists will be selected on November 20 while the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 6 on The Home Depot College Football Awards broadcast live on ESPN.
