FAIRFAX, Calif – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team improved 18 strokes from Round 1 to Round 2 following the first day of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday at the Meadow Club.
The Rainbow Warriors carded an opening round 299 and followed with a 3-under 281 in Round 2, paced by sophomore
Justin Arcano's 4-under 67. UH sits in 14
thplace with a 580 total.
Host California leads the tournament at 532, six strokes ahead of Pepperdine (538) heading into Tuesday's third and final round. Cal's Collin Morikawa (-13) holds a one stroke lead over teammate Sebastian Crampton (-12).
Arcano's second round 67 included two birdies and one eagle, which moved him up to a tie for 29
that 1-under 141. Senior
Cameron Kaneko's 1-under 70 in Round 2 put him at 4-over 146 and a tie for 62
nd. One stroke back is junior
Nick Nelson, who carded 74 and 73 for a 147 total and is tied for 65
th.
Also competing for the Rainbow Warriors are sophomore
Cole Yoshida (152, 76
th) and sophomore
Justin Ngan (157, 80
th).
Tuesday's final round begins with tee times at the 1st and 10th holes starting at 7:40 a.m. PT.
