FAIRFAX, Calif – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team improved 18 strokes from Round 1 to Round 2 following the first day of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday at the Meadow Club.
 
The Rainbow Warriors carded an opening round 299 and followed with a 3-under 281 in Round 2, paced by sophomore Justin Arcano's 4-under 67. UH sits in 14^thplace with a 580 total.
 
Host California leads the tournament at 532, six strokes ahead of Pepperdine (538) heading into Tuesday's third and final round. Cal's Collin Morikawa (-13) holds a one stroke lead over teammate Sebastian Crampton (-12).
 
Arcano's second round 67 included two birdies and one eagle, which moved him up to a tie for 29^that 1-under 141. Senior Cameron Kaneko's 1-under 70 in Round 2 put him at 4-over 146 and a tie for 62^nd. One stroke back is junior Nick Nelson, who carded 74 and 73 for a 147 total and is tied for 65^th.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Warriors are sophomore Cole Yoshida (152, 76^th) and sophomore Justin Ngan (157, 80^th).
 
Tuesday's final round begins with tee times at the 1st and 10th holes starting at 7:40 a.m. PT.
