HONOLULU—Although Day Two of the UH Anuenue Invite was shortened due to rain, the University of Hawai'i women's tennis team was able to finish eight of its 10 matches on Saturday morning at the soggy UH Tennis Complex.
 
In doubles, Hawai'i swept the Sharks. UH's Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma defeated HPU's Elisa Elhadj and  Sarah Ikioka, 8-2. Hawai'i's Maayan Sela and Nikola Dolakova pulled away from the Sharks' Jayme Waites and Bianca Schulhof, 8-3, and UH's  Michelle Pits and Alzbeta Houbova doubled up on HPU's Nicole Ballach and Heloise Le Normand, 8-4.
 
In singles, UH was able to get five matches in before the rains came with the 'Bows winning four of the five matches that were finished. No. 1Melounova blanked Ballach in the first set, 6-0 before Ballach retired for the match. UH's No. 2, 5, and 6 all were able to sweep their matches. No. 2 Sela swept HPU's Elhadj, 6-4, 6-1; No. 5 Resma knocked off HPU's Waites, 6-2, 6-3; and Houbova coasted past Schulhof, 6-3, 6-1. HPU's lone win came on the No. 7 court with Monica Greene defeating UH's Sophia Storch, 6-1, 6-4.
 
The Sharks' No. 3 Ikioka won the first set over UH's Dolakova in a tie-breaker, but Dolakova was up 1-0 in the second set when play was halted. While UH's No. 4, Pits was leading HPU's Le Normand, 6-2, 4-3.
 
The No. 3 and No. 4 matches will be finished at the start of Day Three of the Anuenue Invite, Sunday, Oct. 7. First serve is slated for 1:30 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
