KAHUKU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine cross country team returned to the North Shore of O'ahu Saturday morning, competing in their second 5k meet of the season at the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational.
The scoring five for the Rainbow Wahine used a balanced attack, finishing 4-6-8-9-11, en route to a second-place finish at the Kahuku Golf Course.
"Having a 24 second spread between our top 5 runners is outstanding," said head coach
Tim Boyce. "Haley (Beaumont), Tristan (Setzer) and Teuila (Gardner) stepped up tremendously to keep us competitive."
After an injury-riddled meet last week, sophomore
Sienna Santiago regained form, coming across the finish line first for UH and fourth overall (19:55.5), just missing her PR by five seconds.
Junior
Alison Bowman had finished fifth for the Rainbow Wahine in three consecutive meets but recorded her highest team finish (second) and notched a new PR, finishing in 20:12.4.
Finishing in tandem, junior
Haley Beaumont and freshman
Olivia Hill finished eighth (20:14.5) and ninth place (20:15.1), respectively.
Rounding out the scoring five, sophomore transfer (Mt. Sac)
Teuila Gardner earned herself the no. 5 spot for UH, finishing 11
thoverall and secured a new PR (20:19.6).

UH logged 38 points with an average time of 20:12.

Danielle Girard did not compete for precaution reasons.
Hawai'i will travel to Sunnyvale, Calif., to compete at the Bronco Invitational, Oct. 13. Start time is at 6:30 a.m. HT.
