BREA, Calif. – Paced by sophomore
Sienna Santiago, the University of Hawai'i women's cross country team finished ninth at the 2018 Big West Championships held at the Carbon Regional Park.
The La Mesa, Calif., native, came across the finish line first for the Rainbow Wahine for the fourth time this season, placing 53
rdoverall (23:59.4). In her career, she has finished within the scoring five in every meet but one.
Junior
Haley Beaumont and senior
Danielle Girard were just footsteps behind Santiago. Beaumont recorded her highest team finish of her career (2nd), while trailing about five seconds behind Santiago, coming across the finish line in 24:05.8, placing 56
thoverall. Girard managed to finish 13 seconds behind Santiago, coming down the chute in a time of 24:12.9 for 59
thoverall.
Rounding out the scoring five, junior
Alison Bowman and senior
Giovanna Casazza finished in tandem, coming across the finish line in 68
th(24:50.5) and 69
th(24:55.8), respectively.

Tristan Setzer finished 71

Sierra Delaware did not travel with the team due to injury during the week. Casazza and Greene replaced the duo.
UH logged 268 points with an average time of 24:24.
The Rainbow Wahine will head back to Sacramento, Calif., to compete at the NCAA West Regionals held at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course Friday, Nov. 9.
