Women's Volleyball Heads To UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (11-6, 7-1 Big West) heads off on its third roadtrip of the year to take on UC Riverside (6-12, 1-6 Big West) and Cal State Fullerton (6-14, 0-7 Big West). The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a pair of four-set wins over Long Beach State and CSUN.
 
The 'Bows finished the first round of the Big West in second place with a 7-1 record behind No. 12 Cal Poly (17-1, 7-0 BWC) who remained undefeated in league play.  With its modified 6-2 offense, UH remains at the top of the Big West in assists per set (13.17 a/set) and No. 1 in attacks per set (37.70). The 'Bows are ranked No. 2 behind Cal Poly in the conference averaging 13.81 kills per set.
 
Senior middle hitter Sarah Liva has been on fire on offense, recording four-straight double-digit kill matches—including being tied with two others for the team-high with 12 kills against CSUN this past Saturday night. Over the last four matches, Liva leads UH with 46 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Liva is ranked No. 2 overall in the Big West with a .369 hitting percentage (122-33-241) as she averages 2.10 kills per set.
 
The integral piece of the offense is setter/opposite Norene Iosia who is No. 2 in the nation with four triple-doubles this season. Iosia is second on the team in almost every statistical category, with 148 kills, 306 assists, 196 digs, 33 blocks, and 16 service aces. In UH's 17 matches this season, she has recorded 10 double-doubles and four triple-doubles.
 
Senior outside hitter McKenna Granato continues to lead Hawai'i and is currently ranked No. 7 in the conference with 207 kills. She now needs just 62 kills to become just the 20th Rainbow Wahine to reach 1,000 career kills. In conference games, she leads the BWC with 21 service aces.

Senior libero Reyn "Tita" Akiu Is ranked No. 4 in the Big West with 299 total kills while averaging 4.67 per set. The Texas Tech transfer has recorded double-digits in digs in 16 of UH's 17 matches this season.
