SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team came away with four new PRs, finishing eighth overall in the women's open division of the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Saturday at Baylands Park.
The duo of sophomore
Sienna Santiago and senior
Danielle Girard set the pace for the Rainbow Wahine. Santiago finished first for UH for the third time this year (22
ndoverall), while notching a new 6k PR of 22:35.53, beating her old time by 15 seconds. After missing last week's HPU Invitational for precautionary reasons, Girard found her rhythm, finishing second for UH and 34
thoverall at 22:54.9.
Junior
Haley Beaumont ran her first 6k meet since the 2016 season and performed at full strength, coming across the line third for UH and 49
thoverall at 23:12.45.
Round out the scoring five, newcomers freshman
Olivia Hill and junior transfer
Teuila Gardner both continued their strong outing by finishing fourth and fifth for UH in consecutive weeks, while both notching career marks. Hill set a new PR, finishing in 23:25.97, while Gardner competed in her first 6k meet, finishing 19 seconds behind at 23:44.41.
Also competing for the Hawai'i were junior
Tristan Setzer who finished 98
thoverall and freshman
Sierra Delaware who finished 100
thoverall, recording a new 6k PR of 23:56.31.
The Rainbow Wahine logged 212 points, with an average time of 23:10.62.
UH will head home to compete in its last regular season meet at the Chaminade Invitational Oct. 20, at Kapiolani Park before the Big West Championships in Fullerton, Calif.
