HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team wrapped up the five-day, Weinman Foundation Invitational at the UH Tennis Complex. On Monday, the Rainbow Wahine took on No. 11 California to finish their tourney play as players from No. 25 TCU and Texas A&M in the afternoon.
The 'Bows started the day by winning two of three doubles matches against the Golden Bears.
Nikola Dolakova and
Klara Pribylova remained undefeated at 5-0 to start the season in the tournament. Dolakova and Pribylova blanked Olivia Hauger and Maria Smith,6-0. UH's duo of
Marina Hruba and
Alzbeta Houbova raised their record together to 4-0 with a 6-2 win over Cal's Jasie Dunk and Alexis Nelson.
In singles, the Rainbow Wahine took two matches. Houbova won in straight sets over California's Audrey Mayer, 6-3, 6-0.
Roxanne Resma then defeated Alexis Nelson in a third set tiebreaker. Resma jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the tiebreaker then held that lead to win 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.
Hawai'i's
Michelle Pits remained undefeated at 4-0 after completing her match that was delayed from Sunday night due to rain. Pits started off down 1-3 in the third set tiebreaker to Texas A&M's Riley McQuaid. But Pits battled all the way back to edge out McQuaid, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
The Weinman Foundation Invitational was broken into two flights - Green and White. The Green Flight included matches from the first half of the tournament between Hawai'i, CSUN and Washington State. The White Flight featured UH, California, TCU, and Texas A&M. The champions for both flights are listed below today's results.
Hawai'i will have a few days to prepare for their first dual match of the season against Washington on Friday, Jan. 12 at 3:00 pm. UH will then host the Rainbow Wahine Invitational with Florida and Utah coming into Honolulu for the two-day tourney from Saturday, Jan. 13-Sunday, Jan. 14. All home matches to be played at the UH Tennis Complex.
