COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate with a tie for 15
th place finish following a final round 303 Wednesday at the Coeur D'Alene Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine finished the two-day, three-round tourney with a 891 total in new head coach
Stephen Bidne's debut. The Coeur D'Alene Collegiate also marked the debut for three freshman including
Sahara Washington, who tied for 61
st overall at 12-over 225.
UH junior
Kaci Masuda was the team's top finisher at 4-over 217 with a final round 77 and a tie for 26
th place. The Pearl City, O'ahu native struggled on Wednesday with just one birdie on her round however it still marked one of her best three-round totals of her young career.
Washington, a native of Universal City, Texas, carded a final round 78 which included two birdies. Sophomore
Megan Ratcliffe posted the team's best round of the day at 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for 64
th at 226.
Colorado went wire-to-wire to capture the team title at 834, seven strokes clear of runner-up Illinois (841). Individually, CU's Kirsty Hodgkins edged out teammate Robyn Choi and Illinois' Grace Park for medalist honors. Hodgkins completed the tourney at 10-under 203 while Choi and Park were 6-under 207.
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were freshmen
Emma Lower (230, T-76
th) and
Tyra Tonkham (231, 78
th).
The Rainbow Wahine will next travel to California for the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at The Classic Club in Palm Desert. UH has been an regular participant in the tourney having placed fourth last year with three individuals finishing in the Top 20.
Izzy Leung tied for runner-up at even par 216.
