Men's Tennis Continues Play At Battle In The Bay Classic

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.— University of Hawai'i men's tennis players Blaz Seric and Lucas Labrunie both continued play in the Battle of the Bay Classic in San Francisco, Calif. on Saturday at the California Tennis Club.
 
The two freshmen competed in the consolation round. In the first round of consolation, Blaz Seric outlasted Pacific's Tadiwa Chinamo in a tight battle, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (8). With the win, Seric earned a bye in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals where he fell to San Francisco's Ryan Marker. Seric lost by just a break in the first set, but Marker pulled away in the second set, 7-5, 6-1. Also in the first round, Hawai'i's Labrunie fell to San Francisco's Mert Zincirili, 6-4, 6-0.
 
The Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the USTA Wild Card Tournament in Honolulu from Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
