RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team moved up to a tie for fourth place after Monday's second round of the Big West Conference Championship at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
The Rainbow Wahine fired a 298 and is tied with Long Beach State for a 601 total. Cal Poly continues to hold on to the team lead at 587 heading into Tuesday's third and final round. UC Davis is 10 strokes back at 597 followed by UC Riverside (599), UH and LBSU, UC Irvine (604), Cal State Fullerton (608), and CSUN (611).
Senior
Izzy Leung is UH's top contender for the individual title after a second round 75 put her at 3-over 147 for the tournament. The Shatin, Hong Kong native is eight strokes off the lead and currently tied for fifth place. Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg shot a 4-under 68 on Monday and is 5-under 139 for the tourney, four strokes clear of UCR's Jakeishya Le (73).
UH senior
Raquel Ek carded the team's top score of the day with a 1-over 73 and is 7-over 151 for the championship. Ek posted two birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey on her round and currently sits in 16
th place.
Senior
Daezsa Tomas is 9-over 153 and tied for 19
th place after a second round 79 while sophomore
Kaci Masuda and freshman
Megan Ratcliffe each shot 75 and are tied for 23
rd at 10-over 154.
The tournament's final round begins with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. HT. The Rainbow Wahine are scheduled to tee off at 8:15 a.m., starting with Ratcliffe.
