FULLERTON, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team swept Cal State Fullerton to win its first ever Big West regular season title outright, going undefeated at 8-0 in conference. The Rainbow Wahine efficiently dispatched a tough Cal State Fullerton squad, 4-0 on Sunday morning at the Titan Tennis Courts. Hawai'i improves to 14-6 overall while Cal State Fullerton finishes their record-setting season with an overall record of 18-3 and a 5-3 mark in conference.
 
It is the Rainbow Wahine's second overall conference title, with UH winning the Western Athletic Conference tournament title in 2012.
 
Hawai'i captured the doubles point with the 'Bows winning on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. UH's No. 2 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova held off CSF's Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin by a break, 6-4. Hawai'i's 68th-ranked team of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma follwed by upsetting 51st-ranked Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela, 7-5 on the No. 1 court to capture the point.
 
Hawai'i then won the first three singles matches right out of the gate. Michelle Pits nearly blanked Danielle Pham on the No. 6 court, 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 Marina Hruba followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Portalatin and UH's No. 5 Nikola Dolakova defeated Masako Makiba, 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the match and the outright regular season title.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will stay on the road to compete in the Big West Championship tournament which runs from Thursday, April 27 – Sunday, April 30. Hawai'i enters the tourney as the No. 1 seed and will open play on Friday, April 28 at 9:00 a.m. UH will face the winner of the first round match between No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 9 UC Riverside.
