SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team won its seventh-straight match with a 4-3 win at San Diego State on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. It marks the Rainbow Wahine's longest win streak since the 2014 season when the 'Bows won seven straight in the middle of the season.

Hawai'i actually clinched the match early by winning the first four points before falling in the final three matches.

In doubles, it was a very close contest between the Aztecs and Rainbow Wahine. UH's No. 1 duo of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma won their fourth straight match together by holding off SDSU's Jana Buth and Paola Diaz de Regule by a break, 6-4. But San Diego State tied things when Aali Valk and Olivia Larsson edged out UH's Alzbeta Houbova and Marina Hruba on the No. 3 court, 7-6 (4). Hawai'i won the doubles point when No. 2 Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova defeated Kennedy Davis and Mia Smith by the closest of margins, 7-6 (5).

Hawai'i then went on to win the next three singles points. No. 2 Melounova cruised past Davis, 6-2, 6-0. It marked her seventh win in her last eight matches (one went unfinished). No. 1 Nguyen powered past Buth, 6-2, 6-1 for her eighth win in her last nine matches. Hruba then clinched the match by winning her sixth straight match with a 6-1, 6-2 win on the No. 3 court over Diaz de Regule, 6-1, 6-2. Resma fell on the No. 4 court to Smith by a break in each set, 6-4, 7-5 while both Michelle Pits and Nikola Dolakova fell in 10-point third set tie breakers with the match already decided.

The Rainbow Wahine will have nine days off before hosting a three-match homestand, starting with Gonzaga on Tuesday, March 14 at 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
