STANFORD, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (9-5, 4-0 Big West) fell at No. 5 Stanford (12-1, 1-0 Pac-12), 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Although the Cardinal swept the Rainbow Wahine, all of the last three singles matches were in the third set when the match was decided—including Hawai'i's No. 1 Petra Melounova who was up a break on No. 51 Doyle in the third set, 3-6, 6-3, 3-1.
 
Stanford captured the doubles point by winning on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. The Cardinal's No. 3 duo of Emma Higuchi and Caroline Lampl defeated Nikoa Dolakova and Marina Hruba, 6-1 while Stanford's Emily Arbuthnott and Kimberly Yee defeated Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova, 6-3 at No. 2. On the No. 1 court, Stanford's 47th-ranked team of Caroline Doyle and Melissa Lord was leading UH's top duo of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma, 5-4 when the doubles point was secured.
 
In singles, Stanford won the first three matches to win the match, 4-0. But UH's final three matches had either started or just about to start the third set when the match was decided. In addition to Melounova leading 3-1 on the No. 1 court against No. 51 Doyle in the third set, Hruba and No. 53 Lampl were knotted at a set apiece, after trading sets, 6-4, 4-6. On the No. 6 court, UH's Michelle Pits won the first set, 6-4 but dropped the second set 0-6. The third set was tied at 1-1 when the match ended.
 
The Rainbow Wahine continue their three match, California roadtrip this week. On Tuesday, March 28 UH will take on Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo at 1:30 p.m. (HT). Hawai'i will then battle UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m. (HT).
