HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis (8-4, 4-0 BWC) team fell to Fresno State, 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. It is the first time this season that the Rainbow Wahine have lost two matches in a row.
The Bulldogs won the first two doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. UH's No. 3 duo of
Marina Hruba and
Nikola Dolakova fell to Katerina Stloukalova and Olivia Noble, 6-1. Fresno State's No. 1 Emma Wilson and Georgia Lawson defeated
Cindy Nguyen and
Klara Pribylova, 6-2.
In singles, Fresno State won the first four decisions to seal the win, but the Rainbow Wahine did come away with a pair of wins on the No. 2 and No. 5 courts. UH's No. 2 Hruba battled back after dropping the second set to edge out Emma Wilson in a third set tiebreaker, 6-2, 5-7, 10-8. On the No. 5 court, Pribylova also bounced back after dropping the second set to cruise to win after a third set tiebreaker against Ndindi Ndunda, 6-4, 3-6, 10-1.
It was the first time this season that the 'Bows have lost two matches in a row.
Hawai'i will next take on Elon on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex. Then they will hit the road for a three game match swing starting at Stanford on March 26 at 2:00 pm (HT).
