TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded consecutive rounds of 295 on the first day of the Arizona State's Thunderbird Invitational Saturday at the Karsten Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors currently sit in 14
th place at 590. The host Sun Devils are the runaway leader of the tourney at 531, 19 strokes ahead of Colorado State (550), while ASU's Blake Wagoner and Chun An Yu share the individual lead at 12-under 130.
UH's
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon is tied for 36
th at 1-over 143 following rounds of 71 and 72. The junior posted eight birdies on the day. Sophomore
Cameron Kaneko is tied for 46
th at 3-over 145 while sophomore
Sam Schwartz is 6-over 148 and tied for 63
rd.
Also competing for the Warriors are freshmen
Taiga Iwasa (155, 78
th) and
Desmond Mello (158, t-80
th).
The tournament concludes on Sunday with the third and final round.
