HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (8-2, 4-0 Big West) puts its seven-match win streak on the line as it hosts a pair of tough matches this week at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine will take on undefeated Gonzaga (6-0, 0-0 WCC) on Tuesday, March 14 and former Western Athletic conference rival, Fresno State (3-4, 0-0 MWC).
The Rainbow Wahine are led by No. 105
Cindy Nguyen and No. 106
Petra Melounova. Both are back in the rankings as of last week, and for the first time this season they are ranked together in the same week. Nguyen, who's played all but two matches on the No. 1 court, is 10-3 overall in singles and 8-2 in dual matches while Melounova is right behind at 9-2 overall and 7-1 in duals. She has won seven of her last eight matches with the one other match going unfinished. UH sophomores
Marina Hruba and
Roxanne Resma are both having solid seasons as well with Hruba posting a 7-4 overall singles record and Resma recording a 7-6 record overall thus far.
In doubles, Nguyen and partner
Klara Pribylova lead the 'Bows with a 7-2 overall record primarily on the No. 2 court. UH's No. 1 duo of Melounova and Resma are 6-3 this season.
