HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened their Big West season with a bang, sweeping CSUN, 4-0 on Tuesday morning at the UH Tennis Complex. The match between the Rainbow Wahine and the Matadors was originally scheduled for Monday afternoon, but due to inclement weather it was postponed until Tuesday morning.
Due to flight plans, the two teams started with singles play. UH's No. 4
Roxanne Resma almost blanked CSUN's Kristen Poei to start the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win. On the No. 3 court, Hawai'i's
Marina Hruba cruised past Vivan Lin, 6-1, 6-1. The 'Bows' No. 6
Klara Pribylova followed with a straight-set win over Arpe Bagumyan, 6-0, 6-4 and No. 1
Cindy Nguyen clinched the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over CSUN's Skyla Alcon. It marked Nguyen's fourth-straight singles win.
The Rainbow Wahine improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big West. CSUN fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.
Hawai'i will take on another Big West opponent, UC Davis, this Saturday, February 11 and 11:00 a.m.
