Box Score (PDF)

HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's basketball team couldn't slow down UC Davis on Thursday night as the Aggies shot 53 percent from the field to pick up a 69-50 win over the Rainbow Wahine in the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Aggies (19-6, 10-2 Big West) led by 13 points midway through the second quarter before back-to-back 3-pointers from Lahni Salanoa brought Hawai'i (8-16, 4-8 Big West) within seven. UC Davis, however, responded with a 17-0 run that extended into the third quarter to build a 44-20 lead.

The Rainbow Wahine chipped away to pull within 12 early in the fourth quarter, but UC Davis again had an answer, using a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach. The loss is Hawai'i's fifth straight, and third straight at home.

Hawai'i freshman Courtney Middap provided a spark off the bench, pouring in a career-high 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Middap, who appeared in just her fifth game this season after being sidelined with injury on two different occasions, added one steal in 15 minutes of action.

Sarah Toeaina added 12 points and four rebounds for Hawai'i, and Lahni Salanoa had nine points after going 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Makenna Woodfolk and Julissa Tago tied for the team-high with seven rebounds apiece. Tago added a career-high six assists without a turnover, and Woodfolk had six points.

Morgan Bertsch led all scorers with 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while Pele Gianotti had 20 points and 10 rebounds for UC Davis. The Aggies held a 34-29 rebounding advantage in the game, although Hawai'i held a 7-5 edge on the offensive glass and a 10-2 lead in second-chance points. The Rainbow Wahine shot 35 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range.

Hawai'i wraps up its four-game home-stand on Feb. 18 when CSUN visits the Stan Sheriff Center for a 7:00 p.m. (HT) tip-off.
