HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (4-2, 2-0 Big West) won their third straight match with a 6-1 win over conference foe, UC Davis (6-2, 0-2 Big West). The match was postponed until Sunday morning at the UH Tennis Complex after O'ahu was deluged with rain on Saturday.
 
Hawai'i captured the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. UH's No. 1 duo of  Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma blanked the Aggies' Kristy Jorgensen and Kelsie Bryant, 6-0 to start the morning. Hawai'i's No. 2 pair of Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova were also dominant, finishing with a 6-1 win over Isabella von Ebbe and Kristina Breisacher. The Rainbow Wahine's No. 3 duo of Michelle Pits and Marina Hruba also had a strong match going against Samantha Martino and Nikita Pradeep, but their match went unfinished with UH leading 5-1.
 
In singles, the Rainbow Wahine kept things rolling. On the No. 1 court, Nguyen defeated UCD's Jorgensen, 6-1, 6-3 while Melounova cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lani Rae Green. Hruba then clinched the match with a straight-set win over Jessie Lee on the No. 3 court, 6-3, 6-3. UH's No. 6, Alzbeta Houbova won her first set easily, but von Ebbe battled back to even the match with a win in the second set. Houbova bounced back to take the third to win in three, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Resma dropped her first set but battled back to win the final two sets over Breisacher, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The last match featured UH's No. 5, Pits against UCD's Pradeep. Pits won the first set, but fell in the second. With the match already won by Hawai'i, the third set was determined by a 10-point tiebreaker in which Pradeep came out on top by just a break, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
 
It was UH's fifth-straight win over the Aggies and Hawai'i is now 8-3 against UC Davis all-time. In 2014, the match was suspended due to rain in Honolulu and was never completed. Next up, the Rainbow Wahine will take on BYU on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 3:30 pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
