Men’s Basketball Looks To Bounce Back Versus Adams State

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (3-1) will play its fifth game in a season-opening five-game homestand when it takes on Division II Adams State (2-4) on Monday, Nov. 27. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.   
 
This will be the first meeting between the teams. Adams State is one of two Division II opponents for UH, who will also face UH Hilo on December 9. UH looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season, a 67-54 setback vs. Nevada this past Friday. The 'Bows set season lows in nearly every offensive statistical category vs. Nevada, including points (54), field goal percentage (.385) and assists (9).  
 
UH is led by senior forward Mike Thomas who is averaging a team-best 16.0 ppg, while adding 7.0 rpg. ASU also sports his namesake on their roster, a senior center who has started three of six games and is averaging 6.7 ppg.   
 
Following its game against Adams State, UH will play its first road game of the year when it travels to Salt Lake City to take on Utah of the Pac-12 on Dec. 2.

About Adams State: Adams State is 2-4 on the season...the Grizzlies started 0-4 but have won their last two games, both in Honolulu this past weekend...ASU defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills (83-82) and HPU (82-80) in games played at Moanalua High School....Shane Johnson scored 26 points in the win over HPU while nailing all six of this three-pointers.
 
'Bow Bits: UH has won the battle of the boards in all four games this year and holds a +6.8 rebound margin, tops in the Big West…UH continues to lead the Big West in assists per game (15.5)…UH shot a solid 71.5% from the free throw line last year. This year, they are shooting just 63.2% from the line, ranking 310th nationally…UH is also just 344th nationally in three-pointers made per game (4.2) and 348th in three-point field goal percentage (.236)…Brocke Stepteau is fifth on the team in scoring, yet leads the team in double-digit scoring games (3).
