Soccer Continues Home-Stand Against UC Santa Barbara; CSUN

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i soccer team continues its four-game home-stand this week, hosting UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 12 at 7:05 p.m. and CSUN on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine enter the week at 5-7 overall and 0-3 in the Big West Conference after a late 3-2 loss to league-leader UC Irvine on Sunday. Hawai'i will look to snap its three-game skid against a Gaucho team that sits just one point ahead of the 'Bows in the conference standings, at 0-2-1 in the Big West and 4-6-4 overall.

UC Santa Barbara's Amanda Ball is one of the top offensive players in the conference. She enters the week ranked No. 1 in the Big West in goals (8), game-winning goals (3), and points (18). The Gauchos, however, have struggled defensively, ranking last in the Big West with a 1.41 goals-against average and .667 save percentage.

CSUN is 5-4-5 overall and 1-1-1 in the Big West entering the week, and will visit UC Riverside before heading to Hawai'i. CSUN is unbeaten in its last two Big West games, picking up a 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara before beating Cal Poly 3-2 last week.

Hawai'i brings one of the Big West's most threatening offensive attacks into the week. The Rainbow Wahine lead the league with 14.50 shots per game and 6.50 shots on goal per game. Sonest Furtado leads that charge with 2.09 shots on goal per game, which ranks 21st in all of NCAA Division I, and 3.36 shots per game. Raisa Strom-Okimoto adds a Big West-best 3.92 shots per game to the attack.

Hawai'i remains home next week for its home finale, hosting Cal Poly on Oct. 22 for Senior Night.
