Rainbow Wahine Soccer Falls In Season Finale At UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Hawaii soccer team was unable to keep up with a hungry UC Riverside squad in the season finale on Sunday, falling 4-0 to the Highlanders. With the win, UC Riverside clinches a spot in next week's Big West Conference Tournament.

UH ends its season at 6-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in Big West play. UC Riverside enters the Big West Tournament at 8-10-2 overall and 5-3 in the Big West.

The Highlanders opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a goal from Ashley Webb. Despite UC Riverside controlling the first 45 minutes, Webb's goal was the only score of the first half.

UC Riverside put the game out of reach during a 15-minute flurry in the second half. Madison Lindsay made it 2-0 with a 63rd-minute goal, and 10 minutes later Amanda Apelian made it 3-0 in favor of the Highlanders. Alexis Vera added UC Riverside's final score in the 78th minute to make it 4-0.

The Highlanders out-shot UH 17-2 overall and 11-1 in shots on goal. UCR also had an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
