Soccer Hosts Cal Poly In Senior Night For Eight Rainbow Wahine On Sunday

HONOLULU – Eight Rainbow Wahine seniors will play their last home match when the Hawai'i soccer team hosts Cal Poly for Senior Night on Oct. 22. Game time is set for 5:05 p.m. at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
 
Dani Crawford, Sonest Furtado, Keala Parker-Lee, Spenser Jaye, Bo Samson, Paige Okazaki, Kellsie Gleason and Evelyn Fierros will be recognized in a Senior Night ceremony following the game.
 
Hawai'i enters the week with a 6-8 overall record and a 1-4 mark in Big West Conference play. The Rainbow Wahine split a pair of Big West home games last week, winning 2-1 against UC Santa Barbara before suffering a 2-1 loss to league-leader CSUN.
 
Furtado, the reigning Big West Offensive Player of the Week, entered Hawai'i's all-time top 10 in career goals scored last week after scoring twice against UCSB. She ranks 17th among all NCAA Division I players with 2.15 shots on goal per game this season.
 
The Mustangs also enter the week at 1-4 in Big West play, and will host Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 19 before visiting Hawai'i. Cal Poly is 6-9-1 overall, and coming off a 3-2 win over Long Beach State. Megan Abutin leads Cal Poly with five goals and two assists on the season. Jessica Johnson has four goals, including two game-winners, while Georgina Stiegeler has three.
 
Cal Poly has picked up 23 yellow cards this season, one behind national leader Southern University in that category. The Mustangs have also baited their opponents into 16 yellow cards and one red card.
 
The Rainbow Wahine wrap up the regular season next week at Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 26) and UC Riverside (Oct. 29).

Promotions: California Hotel & Casino is the sponsor and will award great prizes to the contestants in the "Soccer Shootout" contest during halftime. Kids (18 and under) can register at the sports marketing table located next to the concessions stand to participate. Fans who visit the sports marketing table will receive a FREE pair of "rubbah slippahs" courtesy of the Wahine Soccer Team. T-shirts will be tossed into the crowd after every UH goal. The University of Hawai'i Federal Credit Union will honor the departing seniors with commemorative plaques during the "Senior Night Ceremony" following the match.
