Mark Presho To Receive Men’s Volleyball Alumni Award

HONOLULU – Former University of Hawai'i men's volleyball All-American and current UC Irvine assistant coach Mark Presho is this year's recipient of the Pae Makaukau Alumni Recognition Award. Presho will receive his award at the 7th Annual A'o a Koa Scholarship Dinner, Sunday, January 15 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The dinner supports the Rainbow Warrior volleyball program. Past winners include Allen Allen (2016), Brian Beckwith (2015), Tom Pestolesi (2014), Manny Relator (2013), Mauli'a LaBarre (2012), and Pono Ma'a (2011).

Presho was an AVCA second-team All-American in 1993. He also earned all-Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Association third team honors twice in 1991 and '92 and was a second-team all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation pick in 1993. Presho finished his career as the program's all-time leader in kills with 1,582 (later surpassed by Costas Theocharidis).

In his 14th season with the Anteaters as an assistant coach, Presho has been a part of all four of UCI's national championships. The former U.S. national team member went on to a successful career on the Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball 4-Man Tour playing for Team Paul Mitchell, where he won a league championship. He has won eight U.S. Open National Championships with Team Paul Mitchell.

The A'o a Koa Scholarship dinner is in its seventh year and is a fun-filled opportunity to meet head coach Charlie Wade and his staff and the current Rainbow Warrior volleyball team. The coaching staff includes fourth-year assistant Milan Zarkovic and second-year assistant Josh Walker. Several former Warriors will also be on hand to socialize and sign autographs.

Proceeds will be used to help fund the summer school scholarships, recruiting, video equipment and additional/camp staff for Rainbow Warrior Volleyball. The event also features a silent auction with sports memorabilia, travel, golf, hotel and event ticket packages, dinner certificates and other great items.

A portion of the cost is tax deductible under IRS Chapter 501 C (3).
