SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed its season-opening tournament with a 14
th place finish at the USF Olympic Intercollegiate Tuesday at The Olympic Club.
The Rainbow Warriors fired a final round 306 for a 923 total (309-308-306). All five golfers broke 80 led by sophomore
Cameron Kaneko and junior
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon, who each shot 75.
Freshman Taiga Iwasa posted the team's top finish with a tie for 52
nd after a final round 79 put him at 228 for the tournament. Sophomore
Sam Schwartz also posted 79 on Tuesday for a 231 total and tie for 59
th.
Kaneko tied for 62
nd at 233 while senior
Pono Tokioka was three strokes back at 236 after a final round 77. Kittirattanapaiboon rounded out the UH squad with a 237 and tie for 71
st.
BYU captured the team title with a 859 total while TCU's Stefano Mazzoli took medalist honors at 3-under 210, one stroke better than Loyola Marymount's Riley Elmes.
The Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the Maui Jim Intercollegiate, hosted by Kent State in Scottsdale, Ariz.
