FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team opened the 2016-17 season with the first two rounds of the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Monday at the Ptarmigan Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine sit in 15
th place with a 622 total after rounds of 308 and 314, respectively. Senior
Izzy Leung leads the squad at 5-over with rounds of 74 and 75 and is tied for 24
th overall.
San Jose State is the only team under par and leads the field at 4-under 572, 16 strokes ahead of Nevada (588). Gonzaga is in third (589) followed by UC Irvine (590), Oregon State (592), San Francisco (596), Indiana and Northern Colorado (600), Portland State (602), Wyoming (603), Nebraska (612), Boise State (613), Colorado State (614), Long Beach State (619), and UH (622).
Also competing for UH is senior
Raquel Ek, who shot 75 and 78 for a 153 total and tie for 42
nd. Sophomore
Kaci Masuda is tied for 74
th at 159 (79-80) while senior
Daezsa Tomas is two strokes back at 161 (80-81). Junior
Lauren Kirkwood rounds out the squad at 170 (87-83) for 86
th place.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the third and final round.
