INDIAN WELLS, Calif.-The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team swept UC Irvine, 4-1 to open the Big West Tennis Championship in the quarterfinal round at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

The Rainbow Wahine captured the doubles point to start the match winning the first two matches on Courts 1 and 2 to start things off. UH's Paulina Petriskova and Klára Pribylová defeated UCI's Sarah Gong and Mazy Watrous, 6-1. Hawai'i's No. 2 duo of Roxanne Resma and Cindy Nguyen then knocked off Vivien Dvali and Taylor LeFridge, 6-3 for the early 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Rainbow Wahine won the first three matches, all in straight sets. Pribylova started things with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Watrous on the No. 5 court. UH's No. 2 and reigning Big West Athlete of the Week, Marina Hruba then defeated Dvali, 6-3, 6-0 and Petriskova then pulled away from Andrea Duva, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

Hawai'i, the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will now take on No. 1 Long Beach State, who defeated No. 8 Cal Poly, 4-0. The Rainbow Wahine and 49ers will square off on Friday, April 29 at 9:00 am PT.

Earlier this season, Long Beach State swept UH, 4-0 on the road on March 24, 2016.
