HONOLULU-The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (7-7, 2-2 Big West) returns home to host a pair of matches this week at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine will first take on Grand Canyon (5-5 0-0 WAC) on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 am and then Pacific this coming Monday, March 14 at 3:00 pm.
The 'Bows just returned from a three-match swing through California where they went 1-2. UH battled hard, but could not get past Cal State Fullerton, whom they lost to, 4-2 to start the roadtrip. The 'Bows bounced back to sweep UC Irvine on the road, 4-0, but Hawai'i finished their trip, falling at No. 22 Fresno State, 4-1, but the singles matches were quite close although the final score does not depict that.
Freshman
Marina Hruba got back on the winning track, winning UH's lone match at Fresno State, 6-4, 6-1 over Sophie Watts at No. 2. Hruba tried her had at No. 1 for the first two matches of the trip. But she snapped her 13 match win streak, falling to Alex Valenzuela in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Hruba is now 14-1 overall and 10-1 in dual matches. Fellow freshman
Roxanne Resma has also done well on the court, recording a 10-5 overall record and 9-3 mark in dual matches.
