Stefan Jankovic was selected to the 10-member United States Basketball Writers Association All-District IX team. The district is made up of schools from the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Hawai'i, Arizona, and Alaska.
Just one day after being selected as the Big West's Player of the Year, the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada native became UH's first USBWA all-district pick since Michael Kuebler in 2004 and only the fifth Rainbow Warrior named to the all-district team, which is selected by it national membership of more than 900.
Oregon's Dillon Brooks was the district's player of the year while Oregon head coach Dana Altman was the coach of the year. Also selected to the all-district team were Arizona's Ryan Anderson, Washington's Andrew Andrews, California's Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb, Saint Mary's Emmett Naar, Oregon State's Gary Payton II, and Gonzaga's Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer.
Jankovic and the Rainbow Warriors are currently in southern California preparing for this week's Big West Tournament which runs Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, March 12 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. UH, the tournament's top-seed, will face eighth-seeded Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 p.m. PT on Thursday.
