LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team was edged out by No. 64 UNLV, 4-3 in a non-conference match on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Hawai'i falls to 9-9 overall while the Rebels remain unbeaten at 18-0 overall.
 
UNLV captured the doubles point, winning on Courts No. 1 and 3. UH's Paulina Petriskova and Klara Pribylova fell to No. 76 Carol Zi Yang and Aiwen Zhu, 6-2, while Sarah Gealer and Marina Hruba lost to Iren Kosteva and Paola Artiga, 6-3.
 
In singles the Rainbow Wahine battled toe-to-toe with the Rebels taking four out of six matches to three sets. Roxanne Resma and Petriskova tied the match at 2-2. Resma defeated Cristina Moroi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 on the No. 5 court. No. 6 Petriskova knocked off Iren Kosteva in three, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. UNLV went up 3-2 as Paola Artiga came from a set behind to defeat Gealer, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. But Hawai'i's Hruba knotted the match again at 3-3 holding off UNLV's Zhu, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. The match came down the No. 1 court with No. 69 Zi Yang battling UH's Cindy Nguyen. Zi Yang took the first set in a tie-breaker 7-6, but Nguyen fought back to take the second set 7-5, but Zi Yang held off Nguyen in the third set by a break to win the match for the Rebels, 4-3.
 
The Rainbow Wahine return home to host its final home match against CSUN on April 8 at 10:00 am.
