HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team defeated Pacific in a non-conference match, 4-1 on Monday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Rainbow Wahine captured the doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead. The 'Bows fell on the No. 1 court, but No. 2 Cindy Nguyen and Roxanne Rexma knocked off Pacific's Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz and Katie Dyson, 6-3. On the No. 3 court, UH's Sarah Gealer and Marina Hruba  held off the Tigers' Maayan Sela and Sabrina Rodriguez, 7-5.
 
In singles, Hruba gave UH a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Sela, 6-0, 6-2. Pacific cut their deficit to 2-1 with a win on the No. 1 court with Dzyuba defeating Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2. But the Rainbow Wahine then won the next two matches with Gealer dominating Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 and No. 5 Resma defeating Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match.
 
Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is a three-match road trip. UH will first take on Long Beach State in a Big West showdown on March 24. The 'Bows will then head to UNLV on March 26. Hawai'i will then take on California on Apr. 8.
