Box Score (pdf)NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The No. 8 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball knocked off CSUN for the second straight night with a sweep, 25-21, 27-25, 25-16 at the Matadome on Saturday night. The Rainbow Warriors improved to team 12-9 overall and 7-9 in the MPSF. The No. 11 Matadors fell to 12-9 overall and 5-9 in conference.
UH's
Stijn van Tilburg and
Sinisa Zarkovic both pounded 11 kills apiece to lead the Rainbow Warriors while
Kupono Fey added nine kills. Setter
Joe Worsley recorded a double-double with 31 assists and 10 digs plus two kills and
Hendrik Mol and
Nainoa Frank both notched three blocks to lead UH.
After out-blocking the Matadors 12.5-to-2.0 last night, CSUN reversed the roles by outblocking UH 11.0-to-6.0. But the Rainbow Warriors continued where they left of on Friday night, hitting .325 overall—including .385 in the third set, while holding CSUN to .188 hitting percentage for the match—including a .069 percentage in the first set.
Hawai'i returns home and will have a week off before they host UC Irvine in a pair of MPSF matches on March 25 and 26. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
