Round 1 ResultsSIMI VALLEY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in second place following the first round of the Matador Invitational Monday at Wood Ranch Golf Club. The teams were near completion of the second round before windy conditions halted play.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a first round 324, five strokes behind Santa Clara (319) and five strokes ahead of third place Morehead State (329). Cal Poly is in fourth (330) followed by host CSUN (331) in the 10-team field.
Freshman
Kaci Masuda leads the UH contingent following a first round 79 and is tied for sixth place. Santa Clara's Kristin Le is the Round 1 leader at 4-over 76. CSUN's Chomchana Phuchanbanchob is one stroke back while a group of three golfers are tied for third at 78.
Juniors
Izzy Leung and
Daezsa Tomas are tied for 13
th at 81 while sophomore
Lauren Kirkwood is tied for 23
rd at 83. Junior
Raquel Ek shot 87 and is tied for 39
th.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the completion of the second round and third and final round.
