Live ScoringSAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in a tie for 13
th place following the first day of competition at the Bruin-Wave Invitational, Monday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine shot rounds of 304 and 321 in the first two rounds of the tournament, which is co-hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine. UH is tied with Denver at 625 after slipping four spots following Round 1.
UCLA leads the stacked field, which includes eight top-31 ranked teams, at 576, 10 strokes clear of No. 15 Arizona State (586). No. 20 San Diego State is third (589) followed by No. 13 Oklahoma State (591) and No. 14 California (593). CSUN is tops among Big West schools at 617 (10
th) while Cal Poly is one stroke back at 618 (11
th).
Junior
Izzy Leung leads the UH contingent at 155 (78-77), which is tied for 40
th. Freshman
Kaci Masuda is two strokes back at 157 (77-80), tied for 52
nd. Junior
Daezsa Tomas is tied for 58
th after rounds of 75 and 83 for a 158 total while junior
Raquel Ek is tied for 66
th at 159 (74-85). Sophomore
Marie Donnici is tied for 76
th at 163 (82-81).
UCLA's Lilia Vu is atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under 141 after rounds of 69 and 72. A group of three golfers – Ingrid Gutierrez of New Mexico, Bronte Law of UCLA, and Sophia Zeeb of Arizona State – are one stroke back at 2-under 142.
The tournament concludes with Tuesday's third and final round.
