Men’s Basketball Hosts Final Non-Conference Contest

GAME NOTES

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team wraps up its non-conference schedule when it hosts Delaware State on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 8:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the Rainbow Wahine basketball team, who host Grand Canyon at 5:30 p.m.

It's also a "Whiteout" night and all fans are encouraged to wear white UH apparel.

UH is coming off a 1-2 showing and seventh-place finish in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. After being beaten by double-digits in back-to-back games to open the tournament, the 'Bows bounced back with a 60-46 Christmas day win over Southern Miss. The win snapped a four-game losing streak. UH now looks to gain some momentum before opening up conference play in early January.

Defense has been the one bedrock for UH this season. The Rainbow Warriors top the Big West and rank in the top 50 in country in scoring defense, holding their opponents to just 63.6 ppg

This will be the second meeting between UH and Delaware State (3-11) in the last three seasons. UH defeated the Hornets, 75-60 during the 2014-15 campaign. Following the game with DSU, the Rainbow Warriors will begin Big West play with road games at Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 5) and UC Irvine (Jan.  7).
