KA'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team got off to a solid start after a first round 295 at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational Friday at the Ka'anapali's Royal Course.
The Rainbow Warriors are currently tied for 10
th with No. 37 Kansas in the 24-team field, 12 strokes off the lead held by 39
th-ranked South Carolina (282). No. 13 LSU (283) is one stroke back followed by No. 15 Georgia (284) and No. 24 Clemson (284), No. 33 North Florida (287) and UC Santa Barbara (287), No. 7 Oklahoma (290), Gonzaga (293), and Houston (294).
Senior
Pono Tokioka fired a 1-under 70 to lead the UH contingent and is currently tied for ninth place, four strokes off the individual lead. Clemson's Doc Redman and South Carolina's Keenan Huskey are tied for the top spot at 5-under 66.

Nick Nelson, whose even par 71 is good for a tie for 14
th. The Honolulu native double bogeyed his second hole of the day, the par-5 No. 1, before going 2-under with two birdies and 14 pars to close out his round. Other UH golfers competing as individuals are
