WAHIAWA, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is four strokes off the lead following Round 2 of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Wednesday, at the Leilehua Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a second round 295 and is four strokes behind leader Brigham Young (578), who posted the day's lowest round at 289. Sacramento State is second at 580.
Individually, senior
Raquel Ek posted a 71 and is in third place at 1-under 143 for the tournament, three strokes behind leader Julia Becker of Sac State, who shot even par 72 and is 4-under 140. BYU's Rose Huang, last year's medalist, is two strokes behind Becker after a second round 70.
Senior
Izzy Leung dropped to even par 144 after a 74 and is tied for fourth. Sophomore
Kaci Masuda is tied for eighth place at 2-over 146 following a second round 75 while senior
Daezsa Tomas is tied for 16
th at 5-over 149.
Also competing for UH are senior
Kelli-Anne Katsuda (153, t-29
th) and junior
Lauren Kirkwood (161, 38
th).
UH is seeking its first Rainbow Wahine Invitational title after finishing runner-up in 2013 and '15. BYU is the defending champion, having won by 23 strokes last year.
The final round begins Thursday with a 9:00 a.m., shotgun start.
